Universe sandbox 2 climate simulation4/18/2024 ![]() ![]() Hopefully that sheds a bit more light on the issue! Please let me know if you have any further questions. I can't promise a specific timeline, but we're getting much closer to being able to release this long-in-the-making upgrade to our termpature simulation. You can read more about this system - which we dub "Planet Grids" - in our 2018 roadmap. ![]() This will iron out many of the issues with our currently climate simulation, as well as greatly broaden its functionality. We are currently building a much more robust under-the-hood temerpature and climate simulation system. You'll also see some weird behavior if you toggle climate on and off while the simulation is running. It works for simple scenarios involving Earth and Mars in fairly natural situations, but it doesn't fair as well when those objects are heavily modified. More to the point: Our climate simulation is currently very rudamentary. Just for clarification, are you specifically referring to a planet's temperature when "Climate" is enabled (Object Properties > Climate > Enable Climate)? Or just an object's temperature in general? Currently, "Climate" is only available as an option on Earth and Mars. If you are seeing something different in this exact scenario, I'd be very interested to know. If I create an empty simulation, and manually add the Earth orbiting the Sun 1 AU away (with climate on), I see the Earth's temperature stablize correctly. ![]() There could be a few issues here, so I'd be curious to see the specific scenario you're looking at. ![]()
